The eight hundred and seventeenth session of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East is now begun. Next the prosecution will present its closing argument.

Ladies and gentlemen, honorable judges, and members of the court:
　　
All of the accused, joined in the formulation and execution of a plan are conspiracy, whose purpose was to establish Japan's military, political and economic control over the countries within the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In order to achieve this goal, Japan alone, or working with other countries of like-mind, embarked on a war of aggression, to subjugate all who stood in their way. My prosecution team and I have produced more than enough evidence to prove the participation of the accused in these criminal actions. Throughout the history of civilization, no one has ever seen human nature at such a peak of cruelty and barbarity. Countless people have died horrendous unthinkable deaths to feed Japan's insatiable appetite for expansion. By their actions, they have challenged human civilization, they have challenged peace and they have challenged the whole world.
Their common objective, a criminal objective, was to ensure the domination of Japan's empire. There is no greater crime than plotting and executing a war of aggression. The security of the world and its people was threatened by this plot and destroyed by this war, the only possible outcome of which is the great suffering the world has faced. Therefore, I, Joseph Kinan, on behalf of my colleagues of the allied prosecution team, solemnly request the honorable judges of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East to severely punish those responsible for this horrible war of aggression, in the name of justice, in the spirit of compassion and in the name of humanity!

「南京！南京！」の試写会で日本人俳優が涙

　会場ではある観客が、日本人俳優の中泉英雄さんに、この映画に出演した気持ちをたずねた。すると会場からは、「打倒帝国主義」や日本語で「バカ」と罵る声が上がり、中泉さんは少し気まずそうな表情を浮かべて黙りこんだ。そして会場の雰囲気が重くなった瞬間、「日本人の俳優に対してこんなふうなのはよくない」や「彼らは尊敬すべき人だ」、「彼らは勇敢です」と観客が叫び、熱烈な拍手が送られ、日本語で「ありがとう日本の友人」と叫ぶ若い観客までいた。

島国日本の映画配給会社は
このフィルムを見ることさえ拒否したという。このような一部の「権力者」のために国民は知る権利を奪われる。自民党よ、早く去れ！政権交代必至の時が来ている!

　南京大虐殺をテーマにした戦争映画 “John Rabe”にスティーヴ・ブシェミとダニエル・ブリュール（『グッバイ、レーニン！』）の参加が決定した。1937年から38年の南京を舞台に、20万人以上の中国人を救ったドイツ人ビジネスマンの実話をもとにした物語で、ドイツ人監督のFlorian Gallenbergerがメガホンを取る。

　先週、上海でクランクインしたばかりの同作は、国際的なキャストが自慢だ。フランスのアンヌ・コンシニ、中国のLu HuangとZhang Jingchu、日本からは香川照之と柄本明が参加。ドイツ人俳優のウルリッヒ・トゥクール（『善き人のためのソナタ』）が、主人公のビジネスマン、John Rabeを演じることになる。アメリカからの参加となるブシェミは、犠牲者の看護のために南京にとどまったアメリカ人医師を演じる。

“John Rabe”は、Hofmann & VogesエンタテインメントのMisch Hofmann、Majestic Filmproductionのベンジャミン・ハーマン、EOSエンタテインメントのJan Mojtoがプロデュース。フランスのNicolas Traube/Pampaプロダクション、中国のZhongjun Wang & Zhonglei Wang/ Huayi Bros.、ドイツの公共放送局ZDFが共同製作を手がける。ドイツ国内では、Majestic Filmverleihが来年配給する予定。世界の配給権は、Jan MojtoのBeta Cinemaが所有している。

　ちなみに、現在、南京大虐殺を題材にした映画企画が複数進行中で、その多くがアイリス・チャンのノンフィクション小説「The Rape of Nanking」をもとにしている。

　中国人監督Lu Chuanは、製作費1200万ドルの“Nanking, Nanking”を今月にクランクイン。スタンリー・トン監督は “The Diary”、イム・ホー監督は“Nanking Xmas 1937 ”を準備中。アメリカ人監督のサイモン・ウエストは、アメリカ・中国・香港共同製作の“Purple Mountain”を手がける予定だ。
